DuFault Propels Anteaters to Wins Over Two Top-Five Opponents
April 13 - Jordan DuFault, a 6-4 outside hitter for then-No. 2- University of California, Irvine, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week. He receives the award after helping the Anteaters to wins over two nationally-ranked opponents last week, including a sweep of then-No. 1 Pepperdine. In UCI's first match of the week, a 3-1 victory over then-No. 4 Southern California, DuFault hit .500 on 17 kills in 32 attempts and only one error. He also netted six digs and three blocks in the match. Then, in the Anteaters' 3-0 triumph over the Waves, he hit .480 with 14 kills in 25 swings and just two errors, while also tallying six digs and four blocks in the victory. For the week, DuFault hit .491 and averaged 4.43 kills, 1.71 digs and 1.0 blocks per game. This is the first time DuFault has received Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Player of the Week honors. It is also the third time this season that an Anteaters' athlete has received the award. The previous two winners were Taylor Wilson (Feb. 2, 2009) and Ryan Ammerman (March 9, 2009).
